- Known as "Mammut", this 5/8" width carbon steel razor has a round point and a handle that is the epitome of rare.
- The handle is made from ~40,000-year-old mammoth (mammuthus primigenius-siberia) tusks.
- Ever seen museum scaled models of a mammoth's 10' and 200 lbs+ tusks?
- Each piece on the razor is sealed and laminated, but nonetheless retains gobs of natural character.
- Beyond this very special handle, this razor's shave is much the same as the "Prima Klang" models.
- I do find it interesting that Dovo chose to use the superior modern hex bolt pinning upon only this $$$ model.
- As to the blade...this extra full hollow ground razor is sometimes referred to as a 'singing' razor as it emits a 'note'
when plucked with a finger.
- As an experienced shaver, I've come to prefer the extremely hollow grinds such as this one.
- I get the closest, most comfortable shaves from them because they can reallly trace those nooks and crannies.
- They're just fantastic at going against the grain on the sensitive spots, too.
- I'd not recommend this as a first razor, but if you've developed some skill with a straight and want to know how close
you can get there's a good chance this will get you there.
- Carbon steel blade ~4.25mm thick at spine. Total weight with scales is ~69 grams.
