INT'L CUSTOMERS;  Unless your order's >$400 or has at least one item explicitly stating "includes EMS express mail", free tracking is NOT included-you must optionally elect to purchase it (if you want it).  Service ranges 7-90 days and there's absolutely no way to find out what's going on.

We'll happily accept small orders from all over earth, however...

PURCHASE WITHOUT TRACKING = YOU ASSUME ALL RISK OF LOSS

We've no option to add any tracking to regular 1st class int'l mail (domestic packages now get this for free).
So far (>7000 att. @ this writing), overall risk of disappearance is ~0.46%, with Western Europe/Great Britain/Canada closer to ~0.2% and Australia/New Zealand thus far perfect with well over 1000 combined attempts.

I can't offer Registered Mail anymore-it takes too long hand-writing 3 forms, sealing a box with water-activated tape, and queueing up at the post office...time's just too valued.  We instead offer to partially subsidize EMS Express Mail's high cost, which is always a minimum of $38(and moves up based on a weight in a jiffy!).
The option buys speed & safety, but only you can decide if it is worth it to you.  Minimum order value of $100 to elect this option.

This is a huge page, so click the names to jump to the particular models;

Really, really made by hand in Thiers, France, "TI" is likely the most esteemed straight razor maker in the world, with production capacities laughably below demand.  Epitomizing hand-made items, the Thiers razors don't have the control over fit and finish that Dovo has...going in to the relationship, you must accept that there can/will be bevel variances, blades coming a bit closer to a scale than one would like, etc...the list goes on and on, but they shave truly great.  I will begrudginly admit it here; specifically an Evide Sonnant Extra speaking personally, my Thiers shaves me better than anything else I've used, and I've used ~200 razors.   TIs also have a certain distinct look and feel which differentiates them in the marketplace.  Do a few quick scans of the forums to see how revered Thiers-Issard razors are as shavers-even those folks most obsessive of their shave gear can almost completely forgive their 'hand-made-ness' once they actually use them.  We Yanks often don't give the French high praise, but if you give just a modicum of RosettaStone effort to try to use their beautiful language they'll turn into big softies just for the attempt to honor their culture.  One thing I personally admire about the French; they don't seem like they can be bought.  A higher-up of the firm once said to me, with the sense of indignation that only a true Francophile could, that "Americans expect perfection!", the verbal emphasis underscoring the absurdity of our expectation.  Now, I ask you; how can you not be taken with a bit of charm from someone whom would say that that way?

Thiers-Issard uses only high-carbon steel for their razors.  THEY WILL RUST if not cared for constantly.  High-carbon steel's also a brilliant shaving steel, and in this view certainly worth the bother that comes with worrying about rust.

Thiers also uses lead hardening in their metal process, something discarded long ago by the world for the enormous health implications to those around a vat of molten lead.

Thiers-Issard intends to deliver 'shave ready' razors, but it is likely more often the case that the blades could withstand more time on finishing stones (such as simple coticule-with-water applications).  Time off the workbench for a skilled and difficult to replace laborer is a poor investment for a firm making something in extreme demand.  We used to offer the factory edge to you, but as Thiers is so variable, I simply can't do that...I must inspect each one to confirm that it cuts the hanging hair as I wish it to.

Thiers-Issard razors are EXTREMELY prone to quickly developing rust in any conditionn.  The ONLY things I trust to protect them from rusting is either the drab silicon cotton sleeve seen below or a DAILY coating of mineral oil, camellia oil, or any commercial anti-rusting 'dry' lubricants (such as Tuf-Glide).  When you buy one of these fine blades it will be looked over with a fine-toothed comb, and generously covered in Tuf-Glide before shipping.

NOTE:  The pictures of individual stock often show blades slathered in the anti-corrosion grease applied by Thiers Issard before shipment...rarely is it bothered to remove it here, at least not until the blades are sold.

cotton sockcotton sockcotton sock
silicone-treated cotton sleeve

I highly recommend this unassuming-looking sleeve to protect any razor from rust.  It has about as much panache as a '89 Camry, but just like that fine tool the damn thing just works.  Sure beats the hell out of fussing with oil and blades to me.

Like malaria pills, all you've got to do is actually use 'em & you'll have nothing to worry about anymore; they get less oily over time, but that does not affect their capacity for wicking away moisture.  This is an effective anti-rust solution for a lifetime; it is not merely a barrier that prohibits moisture from entering within, but instead a tool which continually draws moisture from the inside to the outside.  Always leave it where it can expunge the moisture to a larger environment, and if those larger environs are as crazy humid (~85% at all times) as a sailboat or rainforest's innards, I'd recommend the extreme step of putting the razors/sleeves in an airtight container with some fresh silica gel packets enclosed within (Ewa Marine's 'CD5' are a very thirsty and reusable desiccant option).

Made by hand in the USA for the firearms industry, the sleeve's based on USA cotton treated with oil and silicone.  There's no need to oil carbon steel kept within; I've used it for a high carbon oldie that I never oil, and I live in a near-constant 70-75% relative humidity environment.  Not a drop of rust anywhere in >3 years.  That's very impressive.  In fact, the makers say to not oil 'em, as this can seal moisture under a film of oil.

This is an excellent, practical travel solution, too.

WARNING:  When you get it, the inner surfaces of this little sock sleeve are much more slippery than, say, a dry terry cloth towel.  It is not intended as a protection tomb from impact, and offers no protection from the laws of physics; this is only a tool to eliminate the risk of rust.  If you forget which end of the sleeve is the open end and expose that open end marginally more towards the center of our earth as opposed to away from it, it is very likely that the razor will fall out of it, possibly damaging you, the razor, or both.  Be careful carrying it around.  I myself have already made this stupid mistake once, but still wouldn't trade these things for the world.  One less thing to worry about.

Note:  $6 USA/Canada & $8 Int'l price is only required if making an order for 1 sleeve, all by its lonesome.  Combine purchase of a sleeve with anything else and use the $4.50 button.  Thanks!

The "Evide Sonnant Extra"

TI Evide Sonnant Extra
Thiers-Issard 6/8 Evide Sonnant Extra
Thiers-Issard 6/8 Evide Sonnant Extra

The "Evide Sonnant Extra" is the least-expensive of Thiers- Issard's extra full hollow ground razors, known as their 'singing' razors.

They don't leave the factory until their edge is so thin honed that it rings with a high- pitched note should you pluck the blade.

Evide's got simple composite plastic handles, though the rigidity of the plastic itself is what I'd term the best in the modern EU productions...  But it is the impeccably ground blade that is the star here.

We (try to) stock the 6/8" models of the Evide Sonnant Extra razor in white or black handles.

The "Sheffield Silver Steel" Models

The "Sheffield Silver Steel" are the step up in luxury of Thiers- Issard's extra full hollow ground 'singing' razors, the same geometric blade essentials as the "Evide Sonnant Extra" above but with fancier bladework, scales, etc..

Just like the razors above, they don't leave the factory until their edge is so thin honed that it rings with a high-pitched note should you pluck the blade.

Most of our stock of the Sheffield Silver Steel razor below is the 5/8" model, but some may be 6/8"; read the listings.

The 7/8" 'Sheffield Steel' (Red Stamina Scales)

This version of the Sheffield Steel has red stamina scales and is a big 7/8" blade, with 'shoulderless' tang style and a square point.  Not a beginner's tool, as it is weighty for a singer and blocks a lot of vision, but an awesome blade for the accomplished!  Weight is approximately 56 grams.

The "Le Grelot":  DOWN TO THE FINAL FIVE 4EVER!

The "Le Grelot" was a large (6/8" officially, and that much at least) 3/4-hollow ground beauty which gained notoriety amongst the wet-shaving community at breakneck speed.  Kind of a shame, then, that it is done, too; this razor was Thiers' efforts to grind some leftover 'blanks' from a long ago (pre-WWII) deceased competitor.  Thiers-Issard did a terrific job, but there's no more supply; all the "Le Grelot" razors have now been produced, and in short order they'll be scarce as hen's teeth.

After ~2yrs vending them, I finally gave a Le Grelot a shave on 1.31.11.  Wow; what a blade!  It is a heavy razor for sure, and recalling a common lament from my safety-first days preceding today's dedicated family man, your sense of touch might whine "I can't feel anything"...the Le Grelot's rather thick grind and meaty spine do not exactly transmit input to fingertips like 4/8" singing razors or a $2,000 turntable stylus.  That's okay, though; this thing shaves like no big razor I've ever used-big yet nimble, with closeness pretty much on par with my favored Evide Sonnant Extra.  I can't tell beginners Le Grelot's a great first razor, as it really is miles from being a tool to learn upon, but if you want a close shave from a large razor I've never tried anything similar.  Against the grain passes with the Le Grelot on the mustache area were effortless.  I use the same La Grosse Blanche coticule to finish all the remaining Le Grelot stocks.

There's some nice detail work on the tang and every Le Grelot gets lovely scales of some sort, but it will always be an understated razor when cast against some of the world's other ultra-premium models.

You'll see some varied numbers on the pieces in the images below; these numbers mean nothing in the modern sense, it was engraved that way from the deceased company.

Even cooler; they don't even know for sure exactly where the Le Grelot steel came from, only that it is exemplary.  It is most likely Sheffield steel from England.

Cocobolo's a well known C. America tropical hardwood that's pretty hard and retains a well-oiled look for a good long while.

Olneya tesota goes by desert ironwood to its friends, and from my high school days dabbling in woodworking, I'll attest that desert ironwood, if not earth's densest and hardest to work wood, is on the real short list of such things.  It was also damned expensive to buy scraps to malleate as I recall; it has a small habitat.  Desert Ironwood's beautiful and very distinct, with a bit of wavy feel on its surface that's kind of a hallmark of the breed.  Desert Ironwood's also dense, making this razor come in at a hefty ~66 grams.
