The 381 Beard & Mustache Comb, supplied in the Dovo 508056 Set, is made in Germany and pretty cute. Pure horn likes to be occasionally oiled with the kind of oils you'd treat hair with (camellia, but one example of many) to prevent drying or cracking; buying a pure horn comb, you'll need to do this. We've set up a drop-down menu here so you can specify your preference; ~dark, ~blonde, or the rarer blondes with dark features for +$4...once those are gone we'll have to update the button to ~dark or ~blonde, for which we've plenty. 100mm (3.92") long, 27.5mm (1.08") from teeth to spine at its widest, about 4.5mm (~0.17") thick at the spine. |

Haven't used any brush remotely as strong as this thing, and have used a few! "Intense" is the first word that comes to mind; while a feather-light touch makes it a terrific user straight out of the shower for a normal man's mop, something like this makes its living plowing through a woman's tangled mess in a professional setting, where I can only presume there are few equals to its major muscle. I wish my mechanical lawn mower could have such oomph in the lowest spots of the lawn, where you've got to push so hard under all conditions that you'll need your hands fully mummified to avoid developing blisters.

A natural bristle brush head mounted into a 'pneumatic' base with a wooden handle that has the softest touch you'll ever put to your head. My hair's <1" everywhere and I can't even feel the bristles touch the scalp. Good for a ladies' "fly aways" control, but really a brush ideally born to a man's short hair. Made by hand in Poland.

These simple wood combs from Poland are impressive in their ability to be smooth and inert on the cheap, without feeling 'cheap', if that makes any sense. In our extensive EU travels scrounging for nuts to hawk, we've seen some exotically beautiful handmade combs from Germany which were ~7-10x the cost and true works of art, and they indeed were a little stiffer so possibly more durable, but I don't think they actually worked better as a comb. A good comb should have no unwelcome points or seams on its tips, be durable enough to task, refuse to conduct static, and take on heat added from you...and if they're really good, stimulate your scalp to boot. The wooden ones and the carbon fiber cannot produce the pro-health nature of the tip of the horn comb, simply because of the very nature of horn, but they are better at gliding and the negative space between the teeth tends to remain clear far better. You can't beat these up like you can the Beuy Pro below, but take care of it and it will take care of you. USA ONLY; these are too easily cracked to risk shipping internationally, the cost to ship it alone relative to the value would be ridiculous.

Every now and again, something in retail comes down the pike and you realize your entire life before its presence was a waste. Perhaps these combs will render futile all your prior efforts at self-actualization, or maybe they'll just align your hair well, but in either outcome we hope you're happy. Why weren't combs always made this way, because of their aesthetic? These things work brilliantly; perhaps a little austere even for my cold preferences, but in any metric that matters beyond the looks they are excellent, without any being a weakness. A comb should first and foremost be smooth-bereft of seams, points, and the like-and it also helps to be rigid and get through hair with little fanfare. In these regards, you gaze above at "The Michael Jordan of Combs", and in time we can safely assume non-Japan production will soon flood the market with less costly carbon fiber comb near-equivalents, as assuredly the material's inherent advantage will follow it well. It is nice to be able to buy 100%-Made-in-Japan options where they still exist, though...have ya'll ever been to that $0.99 store in San Fran's Japantown? It is a ton of fun, and they even have some stuff that is actually produced there as opposed to just designed there. Doesn't make static at all. Good but not spectacular glide. Homogenous teeth that are neither too soft or too hard.
