"Passionate Excellence in Craftsmanship"
Jerry Stark's an independent artisan grinder, making straight razors and scales all by hand (=one at a time) in the high desert country of Navajo County, Arizona, USA. I've personally never seen better workmanship with the uniformity of grinds or the alignment of scales.
This specimen's a 6/8" size with conventional smooth tang style, round point, and Burgundy Micarta scales. The ~76mm cutting length's significantly beyond most German production straight razors, and it weighs ~53.7g. The razor's also got a wonderfully-acute bevel angle of approximately 15°, with terrific edge flexibility. Note the 'extra hollowed' secondary profile for the bottom ~5mm of the razor's grind, which together with the healthily-narrowed <5mm spine help make a flexible and sharp cutting tool.
The steel recipe used here is 52100, a hard and durable type that is known in aviation circles for use with bearings, meaning that it is an especially smooth steel.
